Hi! I already own a physical copy of Ghosts of Saltmarsh. I understand that getting a copy of it through D&D Beyond will allow me to leverage all the monster stats for monsters that are unique to that set of adventures. I'm definitely excited about that.
However, I'm particularly curious if the D&D Beyond copy will also allow me to leverage all the maps from various encounters throughout the adventures -- i.e., give me access to electronic versions of those maps that I could then import into a VTT. I am new at trying to run a D&D game using a VTT, but I'm trying to assemble the various pieces. I've read a number of things around the topic of VTT's, but this is a very particular question I'm posing about the value I might get out of having a D&D Beyond copy of Ghosts of Saltmarsh. Will it give me access to electronic versions of the maps?
Yes, you would need to download the maps from DnDBeyond and then upload them to your VTT.
The one map I looked at is kind of basic, so you might check and see if anyone has created better versions. There's a lot of great artists posting their work on Patreon.
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback, mtngoatjoe and SlaughterMachine!
Good reminder about the artists creating stuff I could use out there. And funny that you mention Foundry, because that's the one I'm currently planning on going with. I even saw that there was some Saltmarsh-related battlemaps a guy created specifically for use in Foundry. Just wanted to verify that using the simple ones from D&D Beyond was another option.
Thanks again!

Good luck!
Yes, I do this all the time when I port the campaigns into Foundry VTT, but any VTT should be able to accept them.
Info, Inflow, Overload. Knowledge Black Hole Imminent!
