I just started with D&D Beyond, and I am trying to re-make my current Bard (level 3) from paper to the character data-base here.
My bard uses a Whip as her main melee weapon, but I can't seem to find it when I add equipment. I can only assume that the whip is part of a book that I have not yet picked up.
My question is this, which book will I need to buy in the market place to have access to the whip on my character?
I have already bought Players Handbook, and Xanathar's Guide to Everything. (mainly because my bard is in the collage of whispers)
When I check in the items section, the whip is there, but it doesn't show which book it is a part of.
Thanks in advance for any help that could be offered to point me in the right direction.
When you add items you need to keep the filters at the top in mind: Proficient, Common and Magical. The first filter works differently then the next two. The first filter reduces your search to only contain items which you are proficient with. The second two filters enlarge your search to common and magical items.
As the whip is a martial weapon a standard bard is not proficient with it. So it only occurs in your search results if you switch off Proficient.
The DM is allowing me proficiency with whips due to my back story. (The bard works her way through bardic collage as working a Pro-Domma) She doesn't have daggers, just the whip.
Thank you again. I am enjoying this program, and I am pretty sure that over time, I'll end up buying most if not all the books.
