The feat assumes you are using the weapon two handed to swing it around to the other side with both your hands. However, it still should be a +6 given the spears ability. I made a copy to check the feat itself. It only accounts for the fact that you are using strength and not its magical capabilities. What you can do to fix this is click on the attack in your actions tab, and click customize. It will bring up a menu to add certain custom benefits to it. If your DM rules that you can swing it around with one hand then you can say it is a 2 to hit bonus, and a 4 to damage bonus. That way you don't have to automatically calculate it every time. I hope this helps!
The DM doesn't really want to have to house rule it. He just wants everything to be by the rules (as do I) and we both thought that this was weird. So we googled it and haven't been able to figure out why the attack and damage modifiers are being calculated this way. That's why we're here.
This is what I've got going on. The "Numbers" for the "Polearm Master - Bonus Attack" don't make sense to me. Am I doing something wrong?
Character. Level 4 V. Human. Vengeance Paladin.
+2 Proficiency Bonus
"Dueling" (+2 to Damage) Fighting Style
18 (+4) Strength
+2 Spear (using one handed)
Action -> Attack = +8 to Hit -> Damage = 1d6+8
Bonus Action -> Polearm Master - Bonus Attack = +6 to Hit -> Damage = 1d4+4
Shouldn't the "Polearm Master - Bonus Attack be +8 to Hit ? and the Damage be 1d4+8 ? Or am I missing something ?
This is a DDB implementation issue. Yes, you should have +2 to the attack and damage rolls from using the +2 Spear and an additional +2 from the Dueling fighting style, but the PAM Feat and its added Bonus Action attack don't "know" what type of weapon you're wielding or about your Fighting Style. You'll need to customize that action to add a To-Hit Bonus of 2 and a Damage Bonus of 4 (and probably change its Name to mention that +2 Spear and Dueling apply), or else create a new Custom Action that effectively does the same thing.

Agree here. All PAM does from a character sheet perspective is just automatically adds the action to your bonus action section, but it doesn't know what weapon you will use and if it has magic bonuses.

Awesome stuff. Thanks everyone. This makes sense to me now. I'm leaving to go and run this character in a one-shot now. We'll see how it goes.
