Hello everyone, I wanted to make a general post asking for advice on creating a character for an upcoming one-shot my DM has planned. Normally I wouldn't ask the community for advice, but he's put a legendary item of our choice on the line for the winner, and at least two of my co-players have expressed intention to minmax for the win.
The one-shot will be a colosseum PvP battle, from 5 - 9 of us , depending on who shows up, at level 15. The only real rule being that it has to be one of the characters we've played in his games before. However, we are allowed to change subclass and even multiclass, but the base class must remain the same. My options for characters are as follows:
Tiefling Wizard (Bladesinger, current campaign)
Tiefling Sorcerer (Divine Soul)
Tiefling Warlock (UA - Ghost in the Machine)
Drow Bard (College of Spirits)
I know, lots of tieflings, but these were before Tasha and I liked to pair CHA and INT with innate magic.
I don't have any real data about my opponents; everyone in our group has played basically everything except for ranger and artificer. Even Matt Mercer's Bloodhunter is allowed in our campaigns. However no one has really played any utility/support. Mostly DPS, tank, and healing. I do know I need something that can survive multiple strong enemies and deal damage reliably enough to take down potentially up to 8 players, probably 4, realistically. My current idea is a 2/13 Paladin/Sorcerer, that way I can have plenty of spell slots for landing divine smites and potentially healing spells if I take Divine Soul. 13 Sorc also lets me take Hold Monster, for a guaranteed crit on at least one person.
Any ideas/comments are welcome. I know it's kind of silly to ask for help with this, but....I really want that legendary >:)
My first thought is that the innate flight you get from Divine Soul 14 is pretty compelling. It would allow you to make yourself a much less attractive target while the rest whittle themselves down.

Canto alla vita alla sua bellezza ad ogni sua ferita ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!

Oh, I've got flight covered. The Sorc is a Winged Tiefling, so innate flying speed of 30 :)
