Hi all! New to the community and new to D&D in general, loving it so far! My group are all new to the game except the DM, I've bought a few of the sourcebooks and have been using Beyond to keep track of my character sheet and as of last session (3 sessions into our campaign) everyone else has jumped onto it too. The DM doesn't necessarily want to run the campaign through Beyond. I know you can share content through a campaign on the master tier, my question is if we are not actually running a campaign through the app, is it possible to set up a "dummy" campaign, run the campaign offline, and still be able to level up and manage inventory even though nothing is actually happening in the app campaign? Or does it require a game to be active for any of that to be changed? Sorry if this is a dumb or obvious question, and thanks for any help! https://9apps.ooo/
You should be able to run your “dummy” campaign just fine. But your group may find that the encounter builder is a big help for your DM in terms of keeping track of foes etc. I know I use it a lot as a DM. There is also a notes section where you can keep a running log of the campaign which can be useful if there is time between sessions or a long break for any reason.
With my current group, that's kinda how we started. I had it, showed them how it worked and how fast I could create and manage a character, not a lot of us use it. But we don't run the campaign through it. We just use it for reference. We still mostly roll real dice and to my knowledge no one uses the encounter builder.
