My question is, how would you identify if someone has been infected by an illithid tadpole? Or how to tell if they are past the week of being infected and the brain is gone? If we go into a room or location, how do we go in and find out who is infected?
Been digging online and it is frustrating as everywhere wants to say about the tadpole, not how to identify who has it.
Or for a more practical solution, here's some text from the Elder Brain Dragon: If the creature is targeted by magic that ends a curse or restores 40 hit points or more, the tadpoles infesting the creature are killed instantly, ending the effect on the creature.
Since this kind of magic would not harm someone who did not have a curse on them, you could cast the curse-ending or large healing spell to either verify someone is not infected/end their infection... or instantly cause their body to drop dead if they are completely controlled by the now-killed tadpole and no longer have a brain.

Trepanning might be a good place to start!

That is awesome! Thank you so much. I'm the town builder in the group, and got to find a way as the town is being infested. Thanks!
