Would everyone like DM thread set up? Would be great to talk to others Dms/Gms for advice and encourage more people to step behind the screen. Also any fun stories and epic moments from your players.
Maybe not a "DM Thread" but maybe some sort of tag/icon to designate DM questions and the like. Lacking that, just including "DM Question" in the subject of a post should suffice.
I'd definitely like somewhere specifically for DM discussion that is separate from general player chat
Some ideas that come to my mind that might be helpful: a) a sub-forum in the General Discussions or in the Rules & Game Mechanics area; b) a DM's Tavern (or the name you want) forum inside the Dungeons & Dragons Discussion area; c) a simple [DM] tag before every topic subject indicating that is a topic concerning something relative to the art of dming.
I think A DM area would be good but you will not be able to keep everyone out. Sort of a spoiler area for potential players who like to snoop etc.
It would be a haven for those players who run out and buy the adventure and read it before you've had a chance to play the first night. Oh yeah it has happened and it's not like you could lock it down for DM's only.

I mean I made the suggestion on the first night that there should be a DM forum but it got lost in all the excitement of the launch, I'm 100% on board with this. Having a place where DMs can talk and ask questions and look for different perspectives would only help DMs- both beginners and veterans. :)

I liked how you mentioned both Beginner and veterans. My number rule after almost 40 years of DMing is that you never stop learning.
There are lot of fresh young minds out there that have a lot to offer.

Why would you want to lock out players from a DM board? The only way for potential new DMs to grow and learn is by reading through and inquiring from current DMs. There shouldn't be anything to hide from players; only support for the continued growth of our skills. The more knowledge that is shared, the better the D&D community will be as a whole. :D
Ah, gotcha. More along the lines of having a place to discuss explicit story context and having players oversee spoilers? Surely could pose issue in some games, but that information will be found if desired - if not here, then elsewhere. I would agree, having a DM specific board would entice more conversation relating to story generation and "how to handle..." topics. Seems many of these are being thrown into the DM Guild board as the moment. No worries, chap!
How exactly do you do that? I've thought a bit about how that would be possible and how it would work. I can't imagine it working in my head, though. Wouldn't everyone know exactly how the story is progressing? Doesn't that take the excitement out of discovering a deep and complex plot? Like spoiling twists and stuff
Do you want to help me? I'm quite new to dm'ing and i'm trying to make a boss, but i cant see the necromancer stats because well i dont own "Volos guide to monsters" so if you could help me, i could set up a private chat and we could talk.
If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.

There should absolutely be a place for DMs. We don't need player's looking over the DM shield.

Muhahaha, they'll never know what hit them......
i mean, you say that, but anyone can be a DM, so there's no use in "hiding" content that way.
Yea I agree, my friends and I all take turns being DM. Every time we reach a natural break or cliff hanger we switch it up.

Yeah I DM subforum would be cool, it's always nice to have a sounding sounding board or a place to find 'inspiration'
It's proper name is "Wall of Fear and Ignorance"

That was a misunderstanding. I would never want to lock new players and potential DM out. Perhaps I could have worded that better.

@ Sedge Exactly! It's the "how to handle " topics that would help most new DM's. That's a good one.
Note to self! Read what you write out loud before hitting the reply icon.

The DM area will be better for your needs:
