I have a project that I started a very long while ago, but inexperience and real life matters ended up with me procrastinating over it ever since shortly after I began, though recently, I took up the project again and I am in need of some guidance. Basically, the project is a fan-made comic/Manga series, based around the 80s Dungeons & Dragons animated series (please don't hurt me lol), but as I knew about all the dislike the game community had for the show at the time, I wanted to bring it more in line with the game and its world, plus I thought it would just make for better reading too, but as it had been almost 30 years since I had last picked up a D&D die, there is obviously a lot I need to catch up on.
Essentially I just need books or comics that represent the following character types the best for now:
Acrobat Barbarian Cavalier Magician Ranger Thief
Here are some of the D&D related books and comics I have, so you know what not to recommend:
Shadows of the Vampire 1-5 Tempest's Gate The Witchblade Trilogy Advanced D&D 2nd Edition Players Hanbook: The Complete Thief's Handbook Advanced D&D 2nd Edition Players Hanbook: The Complete Wizard's Handbook Martial Power 2 Player's Handbook 2 Expert PLayer's Guide Vol 1: Renegade Wizard's Spellbook Expert PLayer's Guide Vol 3: Epic Monsters
Recommendations for books or comics that best represent the various monsters and regions of the realm would be most welcome too, especially ones that were printed for around the same time period of the animated series.
You've probably already thought about this, but have you checked the back of the DMG? I don't know about editions other than 1st and 5th, but there's a recommended reading list.
I'll make one recommendation for Barbarian. The quintessential archetype is Robert E Howard's Conan the Barbarian. I recommend "Conan the Cimmerian Barbarian, the Complete Weird Tales Omnibus" edited by Finn J.D. John.
Drizzt Do'Urden, by Salvatore. They will introduce you to the world of rogues, rangers, fighters and wizards. If you haven't read them, grab the first one and give it a go.

You should check out the Dragonlance series (Sturm is the best cavalier) and any of the R. A. Salvatore novels.
She/Her Player and Dungeon Master

Thanks guys, I shall have a look into those suggestions. Just recently bought and received 'Eberron: Whispers Of The Vampires Blade'!
