So it’s been a while since a made a custom origin character. I was thinking about making a swift stride blade singer wizard. However with them being squishy as hell I was wondering about grabbing a lvl 1 feat like tough with the custom origin from TCoE. my question is: what would I lose? Only proficiencies? Or also the very choice to choose 1 of the 4 subraces of mordenkainen’s shifter? I’m asking because my campaign doesnt have the book bought on DnD beyond only irl so I thought I’d ask here first before buying the race myself. if I were to lose the choice of a subrace in return for that lvl 1 feat that would be a whole other discussion. Lvl 1 feat vs using your reaction to safely get away from an enemy. thanks in advance!
Custom origin covers a number of options for example under languages you can swap out Quori fr another language of your choice.
To get a feat requires the custom lineage which mechanically is a seperate race, you would lose all the features of the swiftstride along with the features applying to all shifters, and you gain the features of the custom lineage. You can choose your appearance so you could choose to look somewhat feline but you lose all the mechanical features of shifter.
