We are far into a campaign and to sum it up Illithids have taken over half the continent. The campaign is more or less battle lines combat right now. They have multiple Nautiloids and I wanted to know of any ideas of how to combat them?
In seriousness, get some ways to get airborne and take the fight to them. Flying critters, especially ones that can fight by themselves, are great for this, as are sky ships. You can't win against a flying force if you're stuck on the ground.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
The "best" solution to illithids is to put out the Gith symbol; both Githyanki and Githzerai have culturally assimilated the hunting of mind flayers to an almost relgious level and they will go to great lengths to erradicate them anywhere they try to put down roots.
This of course does lead into the issue of bringing in two groups of outsiders that will prioritize killing mind flayers over saving you (and in the case of the former potentially becoming as big of a problem in the long run).
