My dm banned wall of force but I'm playing an artillerist artificer (part of expended spells), he refuses to replace it even though that means removing a large part of a the feature of the class, I'm a half caster anyway and it can be countered quite well. What should I do.
Also my fav is fireball, dats why I chose the subclass.
It’s a 5th level spell. You wouldn’t get it until character level 17 anyway assuming no multiclassing. Very few games last that long and at that level the spell is not great. So it’s really not worth the energy to stress out over
Hey all! This is just to talk about spells. Also, what are some spells you like and why do you like them?
Conjure animals, cast with a 9th level spell slot you can get 32 velociraptors. You can get up to some crazy shenanigans with 32 vicious, carnivorous dinosaurs under your control.

Why'd he banned it? He may have his reasons.
He might be familiar with it from older editions when it was significantly more powerful.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

The only thing to do is to speak to the DM, figure out what they specifically object to, and see if there's a way around it. If there is no compromise that both of you agree to, then decide whether you'd rather have a different class/subclass combination, or to just not play with them.
I'd question the wisdom of playing a specific class/subclass combination based on a spell gained at L17. It seems a bit odd to be that hung up about a specific spell anyway (your character should be interesting enough even without access to a specific spell), but a L17 one? That's unlikely to be an issue. I mean, maybe you're doing a L17-20 adventure? The vast majority of adventures start at L1, and even setting aside the fact that the vast majority of campaigns will never reach L17 (even the ones that intend to), playing 17 levels with a character that you're only playing to get a single spell seems...like a chore. Are you sure there isn't some other combination that will satisfy you better?

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
As DM i love spells that allow player characters to ask any questions to powerful otherwordly entities such as Contact Other Planes, Commune and Divination etc.
Crown of Stars is super awesome. Not because it makes interesting improvisations on the action economy, although it is cool to get in close, use an action for true strike, and then make an advantage attack with your bonus action. It's super cool because of all it's thematic potential. As a 7th level light spell it counters and dispels 6th level and lower darkness effects. The visual description is compelling and would suggest situational advantage on various social rolls. It reminds me of those moments in The Lord of the Rings when Frodo recalls the name of Elbereth and finds strength in it. It's a spell that encourages you to try to recreate that moment for the other characters and players at the table. I love that.
Cloud of Daggers is underrated. Really good at blocking off narrow spaces as long as the Wizard doesn't drop concentration to charge at the dangerous ogre... (Yes, someone in my party actually did this once.)

BoringBard's long and tedious posts somehow manage to enrapture audiences. How? Because he used Charm Person, the #1 bard spell!
He/him pronouns. Call me Bard. PROUD NERD!

I feel like too many mages sleep on Expeditious Retreat, especially if they don't have a Concentration Spell on their roster just yet. At the very least, it's nice to have Expeditious Retreat in your back pocket, in case you need to get out of a dangerous situation quick, fast, and in a hurry.
Thx for ur insights :] really appreciate it. Sadly the main problem I'm having isn't that I don't want him to ban the spell I very clearly understand why. The problem is that he won't replace it with something else but thankfully we probably won't have to handle lvl 17 thx.
I like Faerie Fire and Stinking Cloud. I think Haste might be almost equal, but still: For support spells those two are my favourite.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.

Ice Knife even if you don't hit, there will be Cold Damage.
I also love Guardian of Nature - Great Tree for my Druid
Burning Hands. It's not optimal, I just think it's neat.
