The name comes from a string of somewhat silly ideas. I think it was Minecraft that had me thinking about copper and how it turns green. This gave me the idea of a copper Dragonborn or Earth Genasi, while being green which causes them to be mistaken for an orc. Then I went reading about copper on Wikipedia for inspiration. I found out that malachite, a copper ore, is named after mallow as in marshmallow. So I just had to include something about marshmallows, and came up with the name which is the parts of a s’more. Graham (cracker) Hershel (for hersheys chocolate) Mallow (marshmallow) Honeymaid (graham cracker brand).
Graham began our campaign dedicated to a guild analogous to the Boros Legion. Investigating a a string of disappearances had him nearby when the magic academy’s greenhouse explodes, bringing the party together to hunt down a nefarious cult!
For a Princes of the Apocalypse campaign I knew I wanted to play an archeologist due to the Strange Map background option. Based on Indiana Jones, the character was named for a place and then did some digging to come up for a parallel to Jones. I can’t remember the leap to Brightcoin, but it has something to do with Jones Street and Great Jones Street in New York City.
The original Mage of Lorehold Unearthed Arcana seemed like the perfect subclass for Semphar, but the statue companion is widely regarded as overpowered. My Dungeon Master and I homebrewed it into something more manageable. The backstory is that in his archeological pursuits Semphar had come across a temple of a near-dead god. He has committed himself to evangelizing for this god to increase their power in exchange for power of his own as a Warlock. The spirits of the Lorehold subclass features are echoes of this god’s former followers.
Starting at level 1, Semphar found his way into the party by overhearing them getting a tip from townsfolk. He attempted to follow them quietly, but was almost instantly spotted and invited to come along.
