Since the covid lockdowns my friends and I have been using TTS as a way to play DnD remotely. I noticed that One DnD intends on having its own VTT, which is interesting.
Firstly, I assume 3D character miniatures will be linked to a character sheet and able to reflect how far they can move on the tabletop, be able to show HP etc. But I do have some questions about other aspects which would greatly enhance quality of life for me as they DM, and immersion for the player:
1. Will we have players able to send commands to their mini for what they want to do in their turn, e.g. cast a fireball and select the target?
2. Will the aforementioned fireball be a neat particle effect and the game calculate damage to the creatures/area effected?
3. Will there be an option for the outside wilderness/world to be created by the DM, procedurally or otherwise?
4. How large can an area be on the VTT?
5. Will there be a beta test and what is the current release date?
6. Can creators make their own game assets and if so what is the preferred software? Unity/Blender?
Those are very good questions, but the only answers would be speculation. So far, they’ve basically just announced that they are making a VTT, and they plan to make it 3D. There have been no details.
