Hi. This post is here for WotC. I wanted to post here, so my account here on D&D Beyond could be associated with it, and they could verify how much money I have spent with them just here and on 5E. Suffice it to say, I've been playing since the 80s, and the money I've spent here is not an aberration. I have purchased numerous Wizards products, and continue to buy Wizard products, and actively support official merchandise. For example, WizKids is someone I buy from, in large part because of their association with WotC and being an official vendor.
However, I see the rumors of what's coming with the new OGL, and I want to make it very clear. Should they prove accurate, I will stop buying any D&D material.
I am a DM. I find players will play anything I'm willing to run, and I don't need WotC or D&D to run fun games. I enjoy using your products, but I do not need to.
The point is, me, and many others like me, will drop you. We will advocate against Wizards, we will not support you, nor will we support companies working with you. Your reputation will tarnish everything you touch. And, in the classic tradition of D&D, we will homebrew the s**t out of you and build something far better and a community far more open.
I'm the type of customer you want to keep. I'm the type of customer you never want to lose. I buy everything. Happily. But I will end it. Cancel subs, stop buying, tell people how awful you've become, and will actively promote *NOT* using you. I will associate your practices with other companies you do business with, and I will do this for all Hasbro products.
Go ahead. Burn bridges if you must. You'll just be left alone on a small island.
