In the response on the blog just now they again repeated that they need to update the OGL to prevent D&D NFTs. I still do not understand this as someone who has worked professionally with the OGL since it launched 23 years ago. There is nothing in the OGL 1.0a that allows NFTs. I usually block the NFT crowd on social media, but has anyone actually seen a wave of NFTs that are properly licensed under the OGL including the full license of the text, declaration of open content and product identity, etc.? Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the whole NFT thing is generally images right?
Last I checked, there's no images in the D&D SRDs licensed by the OGL.
Or is WotC just hoping to win over good will by riding the wave of NFT hate by claiming the OGL needs to change?
Bottom line - has anyone seen all of these alleged OGL licensed NFTs???????

It wasn't disallowed because NFTs weren't a thing for OGL 1.0.
I can completely get behind a company going Yo, we are going to update the language to protect our assets in these ways, and while not touching anything else including new language to prohibit new technologies explictly. That's fine.
They didn't do that though, and considering NFTs are inherently a scam I don't blame Wizards for saying NOPE to any possibility of it.

Also considering Hasbro LOVES NFTs.
