They also need to acknowledge on each of these why their initial plan was bad so we know they understand and aren't making a small concession with content they no longer plan on selling (the SRD into CC) only because of pushback. If we call this a victory and let this fade out they will do everything they were already planning to do with 6e.
It was obvious that all of you "Unsubscribers" were never going to be happy, no matter what WOTC did. Your post is a great example of that. Next thing you will ask for is the resignation of all staff that were involved in this whole debacle. They are leaving it in place and actually giving the Dev Community more. You have Victory. But, of course, you want a pound of flesh. Move on if this isn't enough. It is over and I am done hearing any more about it.
I'm not subscribing again right now but it went from a "never" to a "let's see what they release". A good new Baldurs Gate book would bring me back. And I can now follow the development of One D&D without this whole mess hanging over it like a dark cloud, which I think is great.
Anyways. They made a mistake. They fixed it. I think they learned something about the community. That's good enough for me.
Unsubbing made me realise how little work they have done with the platform since the Hasbro takeover. One of the paid benefits is early access to beta features, but there are no new beta features. Sidekicks still don't work properly (as per Tasha rules). May other things are incomplete or missing, and I see no indication that will change. This whole episode put all that into focus for me. I might have overlooked it and let the renewal kick in otherwise.
With the most recent OGL statement and release of the 5.1 SRD under CC, I still need to see the following before I resubscribe to D&D Beyond:
5E content and support for character creation and home-brew will ALWAYS be available as long as DDB remains in existence.
License for One D&D material use for fan created content, streamers, 3PP, etc.
Assurance that One D&D will still be fully backwards compatible with 5E.
VTT license (not policy) for One D&D content not covered by OGL1.0a/CC
Not happening. Which isn't to say that it's not WotC's intent, but they can't guarantee that. You'll never know that this will be the case until DDB shuts down. You just have to trust to greed and the financials that make keeping 5e available profitable.
This is a given and was never really in doubt.
This really depends on what you mean by "fully backwards compatible". More in a minute.
I'm not sure what you intend by this. Hopefully now you've seen WotC's answer for this.
Re: "fully backwards compatible"
What does that mean to you? Taken literally...no... that's not going to happen. If it were...then it would just be an expansion to 5e, which we know 1D&D is not, and therefore we know that it's not fully backwards compatible.
There will be compromises. There has to be. They've promised that adventures and sourcebooks will be compatible with 1D&D, the only things that will not be compatible are the core rules; PHB, MM & DMG.
However, here are some key questions and my thoughts:
Are classes and subclasses interchangeable, Eg can you use 1D&D School of Evocation with a 5e.Wizard? It will be awkward at best. Personally, I don't overly care. I'm fine with having to keep to the same edition as your class when you pick the subclass. I do want to be able to use 5e classes in 1D&D and vice versa.
Will you have to match the monsters used in an adventure with the ruleset? I'm not massively fixes on this, but it would be nice if I didn't have to.
Mostly, I want to be able to play 5e adventures and supplements in 1D&D (that's a redline for me, if they back down on that, I'll probably leave) and to play 1D&D adventures using 5e (not a redline, but it would be disappointing).

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.

Homonculus Servant for Artificers still not working properly.
I unsubscribed during the great unsubathon to exhibit my displeasure to WotC and Hasbro executives for trying to remove and decouple OGL1.0a from previously released SRD. I am an annual subscriber, and my sub doesn’t run out until June.
There is one easy reason I haven’t resubscribed yet - life is busy, and it’s a low priority for me. I play with two groups, and also have a church ministry group that uses my sub. I may resubscribe sometime between now and June, ut at the same time, all three groups are considering different systems.
I think that having a bunch of people like myself is the biggest risk to Hasbro - we’re happy now, but we’re also busy with our real lives and just may not get around to resubscribing. Losing that cash flow is a long term material impact to their revenue.
Also, while I am ecstatic about the result, this in no way shape or form implies that Hasbro has re-earned my trust. That will take years, and will always have a very low threshold to lose it again.
Sorry, but you're not done. Hasbro and WoTC has shown how much they care about the community that has formed around d&d. They like to play on their "community" to get them to buy all their goods, but in the end they only see us as cows to milk for all we're worth. Most of us "Unsubscribers" understand, however that the resignation of all involved is a bit much, but Cynthia Williams? Absolutely. She is nothing but poison to not only d&d, but mtg as well. That said, I am resubscribing, because it's a useful tool and it will help the people on the inside at WoTC that actually care.

License for One D&D likely won't even happen until it's officially released, or shortly before, in 2024.
It is available regardless of DDB existence.
This will most likely fall under a new OGL, though hope it will not.
I also hope 1DnD remains compatible with 5e like they said it would, but I am ok with it if it is not..
Like above, any VTT is now able to use 5e SRD, and will be able to moving forward.. As far as 1DnD.. we just won't know until it is release.
I for one, never un-subbed and do not see why subbing or un subbing is base don something that is not out yet.
DDB is a tool I use to play 5e. If it remains as such, it has value to me.

All ready seeing those posts about this :)
The fight is over. Time for a long rest.

A clear statement that DDB will not be charging for content that is already available for free elsewhere.
These are all reasonable requests and should be addressed by D&D Beyond before you consider resubscribing.
