My name is Jean or as I have named my character Ulric Van Beuren. My interest in Dungeons and Dragons began somewhere around 2014 when a friend of mine bought the 4th edition core rulebook, starter set, monster vault and dungeon master's kit. I played maybe one time with his set but never paid any attention to the game until late last year after watching the influence that it had on the Netflix series "Stranger Things". After watching the series, my interest in the game was re-ignited and my friend gave me all of his 4e books.
After a few days reading the books, I found that I couldn't really get a firm grasp on the mechanics of the fourth edition so I decided to give the 5th edition starter set a try (At $12, I didn't really have much to lose if I didn't like it). I found the mechanics much easier to understand and more straightforward (I'm still a bit confused when it comes to combat, but I'm sure I'll figure it out). I decided to buy the player's handbook, dungeon master's guide (I've taken on the role of being the DM of my friend group) and the monster manual as well as a grid playmat for us to use during combat. After getting all of the stuff to run a 5e campaign, I feel bad just leaving all of the 4e stuff that my friend gave gather dust and be ignored. 4e does have some pretty cool monsters and the Monster Vault set that I have has a pretty cool adventure as well as a nice monster list.
How can I the monsters and adventures from 4e and pass them over to 5e? Is there a formula that I have to use or do I have to wing it?

Here the document provided by WotC for the conversion in 5e.
