Hey all. So I am playing a lvl 16 Dhampir Devotion Paladin in Waterdeep dragon heist. However, my character is going through a crisis as he is feeling he isn’t strong enough to sleep his party members safe. He knows his vampire mother and knows and has access to the Baron of Blood. He knows the strength of vampires and the consequence as well. That being said my DM says it’s an interesting proposition and he is open to it, since we are t4 adventurers, if we can make the mechanics https://routerlogin.uno/ balance. Does anyone have any thoughts? I’ve seen things from needing to feed after being in direct sunlight, losing 1hit die per hour in sunlight before burning, items that dull the hypersensitivity to just sensitivity. I’m curious what everyone’s opinions are since we are in the high game at this point and not trying to be a true vampire at lvl 3 or something.
Lot to unpack here and when I start digging in, I find way more questions than answers.
Besides the Lvl 16 Dragon Heist setup, which, if the DM wants to rebalance an entire adventure, more power to them.
There doesn't seem to be a clearly stated reason why a party of Lvl 16 adventurers would *need* to rely on one PC to keep them safe. If they wanna sleep, Hallow, Forbiddance or Magnificent Mansion might offer enough cover from any true vampires.
Since it's not openly stated, I can only assume that you are referring to becoming full Vamp. How does the Baron feel about "bestowing this gift" on "food"?
By engaging with the Undead to make a deal, are you breaking your Oath of Devotion by not using the Angels as your ideal?
If you were to give up the last vestiges of your Dhampir lineage, wouldn't that make you full Vampire...? Like Blade giving in to the "Thirst" and not having the "Serum". Effectively, you might have to change one temptation for another. That replacement has to have a significant cost. Something akin to no longer being a paladin while the effects are active.

I have to say that given the grammar, lack of any actual question, inconsistencies in the facts (level 16 on Dragon Heist), and that the topic is simply "Dungeon Master", I suspect that this one and only post from this account is a bot or AI posting thingummy.

Wait woah how are you playing a 16th-levek character? Dragon Heist starts at 1st and takes PCs to 5th level
