The VTT looks neat, but I didn't see anything about it that leads me to feel it is easier to use than any other VTT, and their idea of mining user created content for it seems eye-rollingly frustrating.
The minis and figures looked neat, but I don't buy those so, meh.
Not the biggest fan of Giants, so some of the upcoming book content may not quite be for me. Otherwise the slate of future book releases that were previewed seem fine enough.

I kinda like the Minecraft thing the VTT thing does not really do anything for me and the upcoming books don't do much for me either overall i am Kinda meh about this years offerings.
Does anyone know if they are working with herofoundry or similar mini making companies, to import those into the VTT?
I imagine Wizards knows. Given that they have an established relationship with Wizkids, I suspect they're talking there, but that will mostly be non-customized models (I would not be surprised to see exactly the same models you can buy in the game store being available in the VTT). For custom minis...there's probably politics.
The biggest take-away for me out of these videos is how I pronounce things differently :) Sigil? Menzoberranzan in that vid?
Looking forward to giants and Planescape content, but unsure I'd buy either. Volos has plenty of giant stuff already and my games generally have nothing to do with 'the multiverse' besides the odd jaunt into fey space, so most of it is irrelevant to me. Can't see this changing until 5e core late-game systems are made more viable to play (unlikely). Maybe useful for 6E if they work on this?
A new VTT... meh - Foundry does everything I need and more. If WOTC want to sell me VTT content then they should release official Foundry 5e content for me to gladly buy.

I’m not a computer person, but it seems like some degree of customization should be fairly easy. Most modern rpgs have at least a few dozen face/hair options, if not sliders that let you adjust stuff like cheekbone height and lip fullness. And since these will be too small for much detail, and won’t need animations like talking or moving really, and won’t have to be 3d printable, seems like it should be possible, without involving hero forge or anyone else.
Now if they’ll do it for free or charge per mini, or do a baseline for free or one charge, but have have extra color packs and skins for extra money, that’s anyone’s guess. If it were me at wizards, I’d be trying to cut hero forge out. Make a good, robust mini maker for the VTT, and then say, for an extra $20, we’ll print you a 3d model of your VTT character and send it to you.
All other content aside, I was mostly looking forward to getting info on the new VTT and I was a little underwhelmed. The presentation, whilst not bad in itself, came across more of a 'fun times with product' rather than a closer look at the ins and outs of how it will operate. Maybe I was expecting too much at the early stage, but I was hoping for a lot more info. I figured we would be able to import our characters easily enough, but I was hoping for a proper insight; what's the cost model? Can you import all the monsters you've bought on D&D Beyond? Is it a free tool like the Encounter Builder, a one-time purchase like your standard video game, or is there a subscription based model to have access?
My group play with Roll20, although I've held off on investing a lot of money into it because of this coming VTT. Whether I decide to invest money in a separate VTT or commit to the new D&D VTT depends on the answers to the questions I've raised.
All that said, it looks great and I'm happy we'll have access before the end of the year instead of next year like the early plan was saying. I'm also glad that we can import 2D Maps so that all my previous map making doesn't go to waste!

Don't particularly care about Minecraft.

I live in Japan, but the people I play with are in the US, so getting a Dndbeyond VTT is great (imo)
They said you can import character sheets and assign it to a mini in the VTT.

If the VTT truly works on mobile and console that will indeed be an awesome differentiator. The spell effects have a lot of potential too.
I wonder if the beta later this year will be open, or only for a select few.

Looking forward to Joe Manganiello's show!
