So, Our characters messaged Lord Strahd on our first encounter with him and told him about Our character's need for support to advance our crime syndicate. Our question is how can we get on Strahd's good side and how can we reap as much reward from this agreement as I can cause our plan is to stab him in the back at the end of this module? Any ideas are welcome! Thank you for reading
I don't think I would like it very much if my players were asking the community for advice on how to "beat" the game, or get one over on the bbeg without using in-game knowledge you obtained by actually playing.
Want advice? Delete this post and allow your DM to actually run the game without having to deal with the Players vs. DM bullshit.
However, maybe your DM allows it, and in that case just google his stat block and create a plan based on the many different ways Strahd can find out about your "plans to stab him in the back", and work to prevent that from happening.
But in all honesty, I would end the game if I found out my players were metagaming by asking the community for advice on something that's clearly not meant to be known outside of actually playing and finding out for yourself.
Just my opinion though, to each his own and good luck.

Ok, so the danger you run in asking us this is that your DM might (and probably does) imagine how Strahd thinks differently to us, and that could render any advice moot. Ironically, given that you know the DM and have in game experience with Strahd (svein if possibly indirect), you're more likely to answer your questions rightly than us. This is more the kind of question a DM would bring to the forums to seek out lore and advice on how to roleplay Strahd.
As a player, this is the kind of thing that, if you have a good DM, you discuss with the DM to find out what Strahd is like in your game, and how to trick him. Even better, have it as part of the game where your characters learn of Strahd through research, interviewing people who've encountered him before, etc. We can't really help.you, to be honest.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
I doubt Strahd would be interested in supporting a crime syndicate, especially outside his borders. It's far more likely he'd offer his support in the way of turning you into his thralls. While I support having character backgrounds and motivations, I'm not sure yours mesh with this adventure. It really is something you're going to want to talk to your DM about.
I'm his DM and just to clarify a small part, their backstories don't fit because we're running a mega campaign and Strahd is just one of the adventures we're going through, we've already gone through dragon heist and Phandelver.
Eh I don't really see this as metagaming especially since most of this info will probably be redundant anyways seeing as I play strahd differently, also I feel that asking for advice like that isn't nearly on the same level as looking up his stat block but that's just me.

Is your DM ok with you trying to metagame?

You need to acquire a costume made of mummy wraps, and you need to somehow get the Lord of Barovia to borrow some gold from you.
