I recently had ChatGPT make a demon lord for me that I found really cool. Am I allowed to make it into a homebrew monster and post it as "mine"? Just wanting to make sure so I don't accidentally do anything stupid! Thanks in advance!
I don't know if there's an official answer, though I know a lot of gaming communities have developed policies about posting AI generated work.
I'd send a direct message to a mod for input and also send them a link to your thread. The mod team is busy over multiple platforms, so if you're trying to get direct feedback, the feedback subforum or DMing a mod is the best way to get an answer.
In addition to the mods, you might also check with a lawyer. This is an emerging field, and I don't know who owns the rights to something created by the AI, the person who asked for the information, or the company that owns the AI (or, god help us, the AI itself once it inevitably goes all Skynet). It might be in whatever terms of service you agreed to when you started using the AI, but, again, a lawyer is best to help with that.
Great question. I've used GPT-4 for homebrew ideas, but it's a bit challenged with full stat blocks. Nevertheless, the admins should swiftly address this with a ToS addendum, and we should have a great big community flame war discussion about it as well.
I'd also check the ToS for ChatGPT. One bit that jumped out to me was section (c) Restrictions (v):
"[You may not] represent that output from the [ChatGPT] Services was human-generated when it is not or otherwise violate our Usage Policies".
That could be easily accounted for by noting that it was made by ChatGPT. How that might interact with DDB's ToS could be interesting, and would need careful study to understand.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.

Thank you for all of your help! I messaged a mod, and if any of you are interested, yes, it is not prohibited to post content made by ChatGPT!
