Context: Leveling up my wife's character for my Curse of Strahd Campaign. She is 7 levels into cleric and wants to multiclass 1 level into monk. Which is all good, but on her character sheet, it shows she has a 18 AC (unarmored defense) but that she can also equip her shield with it to have a 20 AC. It specifically says in Unarmored defense that it does count when used with a shield https://19216801****/https://routerlogin.uno/. Question: Am I missing a change in rules or something or does dndbeyond not recognize if you equip a shield with umarmored defense?
There’s no rule change that allows monks to use a shield with their Unarmored Defense. You just have to make sure the shield is unequipped. That part of the rules is implemented in the program.
