Been needing a single character slot for a while now and i dont wanna fork over for the subscription cause I dont play dnd enough for it to be worth it so like is there any way to just buy a single one?
The only way to get more than six character slots is the subscription as far as I know.
D&D Beyond assumes that most standard casual players will not have more than 6 active characters in campaigns at once.
If you REALLY need one extra slot, you have a few options:
Print the PDF of a character you play very little, then delete the character, and make the new one you want. You would still have all of the info from the previous character saved and printed on the PDF for if you ever needed to re-create them in the D&D Beyond site.
Create a new email, then create a new D&D Beyond account with that email, and you'll have 6 more slots.
When I subscribed because I wanted more character slots, I looked at it from the "what else am I willing to buy for $26.04 (the yearly total for the basic subscription)". Realizing that I'll easily drop $26 in a single visit to a bar with some drinks, then I thought, why not drop it on something that I enjoy and brings me happiness.
Hope this helped :)
Cheers!

Breathe, dragons; sing of the First World, forged out of chaos and painted with beauty. Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Partnered, they woke in the darkness; partnered, they labored in acts of creation.
Only way to increase character slots is the subscription, if you need a character slot delete an unused or print and delete the least used character. Or make the new character on paper. instead.
