So back when WotC purchased dndbeyond they said they would honor the Legendary Bundle discount on all official titles on the site. However, this was not extended to Third Party titles that would later be listed on the site.
When this was first addressed I can’t remember if they said this officially or not but I was under the impression that any discount needed to be approved by the developer or that WotC didn’t want to reduce the third party’s profits (hah). That could have been wrong but that’s pointless regardless.
While not happy that this was the case overall I understood that reasoning. However, now that the summer sale has many of these Third Party titles in it I feel like this is a slap in the face of what could be considered this site’s most dedicated user base. (At least financially dedicated). If WotC needed to negotiate the discount and they did that here then the previous Legendary Discount should be negotiable on these titles too.
To completely forthright, I am early adopter and have the Legendary Bundle and feel like I’m being overly critical but also justified in my irritation.
They have yet to honor the discount stacking as advertised on anything since the marketplace change. As for any official statements as far as I know this thread has the bulk if not everything about it, DDB seems to be ignoring the issue. I can't believe this is how they treat customers that dropped that kind of money on those bundles.
I get the discontinuing the bundles, but going back on what was advertised is so reprehensible and should be criminal if it isn't.
As for 3rd party I don't think it was ever a part of the discounts and can't imagine it would be simply because they are splitting the revenue with the IP owners.
First party books should definitely get the discounts advertised when the bundles were sold!
I completely forgot that the discount should have been stacking with all other discounts. That’s how long ago I purchased it. I don’t know if there was a typo in your link or not but I’m getting an error when trying to go to it.
I think I purchased the bundle back in 2019. I’d be interested to see what the terms were back then. Taking away a service already paid for sounds dodgey at best.
I think that the Legendary Bundle discount still applies on digital-only sales. It's showing up for me on the Dragon Delves book when I click digital. (I can't check the stacking on sale items as I have all the items currently on sale.)
Alternatively, they got the publishers to agree to the sale. 3PP were objectively not a part of the Legendary Bundle agreement, so it’s rather unrealistic to expect them to get added in after the bundle itself stopped being offered.
Regarding not seeing your discounts, starting a ticket seems more likely to get that swiftly resolved for whatever purchase you’re looking at than starting a general forum thread.
I see my discount on the rare official release that WotC has now. That wasn't something I was dealing with. My problem is that they continually have marginalized what was a touchstone item for the site's growth with their dedicated user base. Not only is it not being offered on top of other discounts, as Jandsomewaterdrinker mentioned, it was an original part of the role, but it can't be applied to what WotC is now doing as a standard release procedure, which is to bundle the physical and digital releases together with exclusive limited items.
Unfortunately, a side casualty of this is sales for brick-and-mortar stores since they are entirely reliant on physical sales. I still remember the halcyon days when purchasing a physical book would get you a digital key for dndbeyond. I got plenty from Beadle & Grimm's. The only thing that would hurt them more is if they started offering the alternate covers on the site, too.
I doubt that the third-party publisher agreements for site hosting are publicly available, but I would be interested in seeing what kind of provisions are on them for what dndbeyond can and can not do without their permission.

& when was there EVER a "free Beyond code for books", especially pre & post 2020? I remember 1 set of physical dice post-buyout having it, but not anything else.

Right, as I said, I am still getting the watered-down Legendary discount. This was always the case. What the discount doesn't do anymore is get stacked with additional sales and discounts, as it was originally advertised to do.
I mentioned that I got codes from vendors who made physical accessories/premium partner resources like Beedle & Grimm. Off the top of my head, I got codes for Saltmarsh, Strahd, Avernus, and a few others. I'll dig them out and post them when I find them, but didn't say this was a WotC thing, apologies for the confusion.
But, overall, the original focus I was touching on here was the marginalization of a small but dedicated population of users who will only grow smaller. I understand discontinuing the service as that's their prerogative. The issue I take umbrage with is that the service we purchased for a significant financial investment is being eroded, and that when this sale was listed with so many third-party publishers being discounted, the reasoning behind not having them included was hypocrisy at its best.
Edit: Not sure how long this article will still be up but here's an official 2022 post where it talks about how Legendary bundle stacks with other discounts.

So you're basing this on an old VALENTINE'S DAY article, the contents of which may not even apply anymore? "Was" advertised indeed. It clearly isn't advertised anymore unless you search for it.
First of all, did you look over the ToS you agreed to? Not only would this require costly 3rd-party arbitration, but the ToS you, & others signed in good faith also say that they can alter this stuff. It's not fair or right that they can, but it's not class-action fuel. Not making a frontpage announcement of a change 2 years later from a Valentine's Day article no longer on said front page is a shaky case in general.
Second, you do realize that this complaint comes down, from corporate's end, as a small group of users trying to game the system during very specific times of year by using an old, no longer prominent article as a "gotcha"?
Third, there are VERY specific & distinct legal definitions of "offer" and "agreement" in the State of Washington, & The US in general, where Hasbro, & its subsidiary WotC, are incorporated in. Please look them up.
I think the MOST reasonable request at this point is to have DND Beyond staff remove the 2022 article &/or declare the 2022 offer invalid/

That is not the only time or place the stacking was advertised, it was the latest. If it was as simple an issue as you claim, why has wotc suddenly just ignored the issue?
Because they don't even consider it an issue? It's not like they're suddenly ignoring the issue, they've been ignoring the issue for years.
That is not the only time or place the stacking was advertised, it was the latest. If it was as simple an issue as you claim, why has wotc suddenly just ignored the issue? Also just because the tos says they can doesn't mean they can.
In other industries when changes like this are made customers are grandfathered and new customers are not eligible. This is just strong arming customers that bought the product and saying to bad so sad we got your money and you can't do anything about it. If your ok with it fine, but don't try to gaslight people that it is when they know it is anything but ok. It is bad faith at best, and really underscores how slimy wotc can be
Valentines Day 2022 was 3 years ago. & are you going by Washington State law(crappy as it is) where they're based?
This is EXACTLY why I advocate Hasbro allowing WotC to hire a code tidying brigade for this exact sort of thing & so much more. I think it's shitty, It could have been avoided with more members of the DND Beyond team, & it would have generated goodwill.
But the step-parent company's demonstrable cheapness post-Sigil backlash is holding back the very change that could fix so much. Monopoly Go! is their big moneymaker investors are all-in on now, so WotC isn't a priority anymore.
Beyond is barely functional compared to Demiplane & Archives of Nepethys because hiring & retaining personnel at WotC, ESPECIALLY regarding DND Beyond, is demonstrably in a chokehold post-Sigil backlash via BlackRock, The Vanguard Group, Charles Schwab & other money piles likely ordering Chris Cocks to initiate a hiring freeze, due to Monopoly Go! making more infinite endless growth & profit at a fraction of the cost, than Beyond's broken storefront. It sucks, & I don't like it, but that's why. It's not RIGHT, & I'm not okay with it, but that's how it is until Monopoly Go! is moved on from in the places that kind of gambling app REALLY makes its money in.

Again it was advertised many times before vd 22, and work that way for years. It was also advertised and sold all over the world, different laws and different jurisdictions. The ads say it works on future purchases and does not stipulate a timeframe limitation. There is no justification for removing it, let alone removing it unannounced and with no considerations to those that bought a very expensive bundle with the discount stacking being advertised as a reason to purchase the bundle.
Stop selling the bundles, sure but not honoring what was sold to those that bought the bundles is some greasy business.

Considering it wasn't an issue until the marketplace revamp ~14 months ago, framing it in "years" is disingenuous and dismissive of the issue, the community manager expressed concern and was engaged in the issue and then suddenly stopped engaging in the thread linked.

And, as your quote leaves out, I'm all for them honoring the stack, cheesy as it may be. But they're not hiring all the programmers they need for that. My approval or disapproval doesn't change that they do NOT currently have the manpower regarding Beyond to fix enough fast enough, & that's due to Hasbro's cheapness after Monopoly Go! overtook Magic:The Gathering in sales volume post-OGLgate. Nor does my approval or disapproval alter the ToS you signed in good faith.
It's SO much more likely a manpower issue caused by cheapness from higher-end corporate powers, than a malicious & sadistic conspiracy by Hasbro subsidiary WotC to hide this.
And it sure as hell isn't WotC's call, because their independence post-2020 engagement spike has been in doubt since Hasbro investors demanded it be milked, before OGLgate clipped that.
JUST say "I want this grandfathered in for those who paid for the Legendary Bundle & spend on sales, & I won't spend another dime until this happens".

Have you tried opening a ticket and bringing the issue up? It's possible you can get the price applied on their end that way. The system is just poorly built, but that doesn't mean they don't have a way to honor it.
Also third-party definitely isn't a valid complaint to make, since that isn't WotC properties.
