I just created a level 1 character. Where's the best place to get started?

I’m sure others may have better suggestions but I would say find a group. Do you have any friends that already play or would like to play? A school or local game store that has clubs/games/Adventure’s League? I believe there are Play-by-Post games out there (I think there is a forum on this site for it as well) you could also try.
