It wasn't Fantasy Grounds, Roll 20, or Tabletop Simulator. It was a really sweet, high fidelity, almost Dwarven Forge like VTT where you could create your own scenarios with animated torches, fireplaces and high quality, animated figurines. It had dice rolling on it, automatic lighting, movement distances (like, you'd drag the figurine and it'd show how much movement you had left on the squares), and some other nice features. It seemed mostly isometric, IIRC. They had a few videos of it in action inside a tavern and it was looking pretty amazing.
There was only a small team working on it and they had a web page up and a Discord channel to discuss development with them. There was some talk about them working with DDB (on these forums) as well, although I don't think there was anything official, just fan enthusiasm. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it and no search terms I use bring it up anywhere. I was hoping to check up on their progress but can't find any of the links I thought I had saved and I stopped going to the Discord channel months ago and Discord doesn't seem to have a channel connection history.
Thanks for the reply but nope, none of those. Far more sophisticated than either Maptools or D20 Pro. It had very high quality 3D animations. Don't know what Battlegrounds is but I know it's not the one I'm thinking of. It was discussed in a few threads here several months ago. There was one very enthusiastic member who mentioned it often and I'm fairly sure they talked to the mods/devs here in some way, shape or form in order to connect the devs of this project.

No. Way slicker than that, and last I remember, it was still in development, not at full release readiness, and that was only a few months ago. Tabletop Connect is the most similar I've found but that's not it either.

Yeah I have been following Talespire for about a year now. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much outward progress. I am still really hopeful that we well get something soon. The best place to follow updates is the discord.
EDIT: HAHA! SUCCESS! It was TaleSpire!
