I had a question about the new rule book that I'm trying to figure out. I want to buy it as soon as it drops, both physical and digital. But here is my question. I am DMing a campaign that has been going on for over two years now. If I buy the new rule book, will that force my players to make changes on their characters?
I ask because I share all of my DNDBeyond modules with them, giving them more access to create a character.
What I'm hoping for is a tab that they can turn on when creating a character that basically selects either the old rules or the new. Any help in finding this answer would be appreciated. Thank yall.
This isn't like an MMO patch or other video game update; nothing forces you to use any of the new material you don't want to. While we don't have positive proof at this point, a common theory that the appending of the (2014) to the current Core 3 supports is that those books and their content will be moved to legacy as the new versions are released, which would mean any content currently purchased or shared will be maintained. I highly doubt there will be any automatic updates to the character sheets; most likely people will need to do a fresh sheet if they wish to adapt a current character to the new PHB.

1: There are many class changes and new features you can discuss with party if anyone wants to edit their sheet to adhere to them
2: Many rules are updated like Inspire and AoP but you don't need to change anything besides use these rules instead.
3: At the very least should use any spell in 2024 as their way better
