My Druid has the spell Plane Shift and its spell component is a tuning fork attuned to the Plane you want to go to - or send unwilling creatures to. Is how a fork can be attuned up to your DM or are there instructions somewhere? I'm thinking of sending a powerful undead to the Positive Plane of Energy where I'm guessing all that Radiant energy would kill or really hurt it.
I posted here because I think classes other than Druid have the spell... Any thoughts are appreciated!
One does not attune it. One finds a fork which is already attuned. The reason behind the component (imo) is to stop players from deciding on a lark they’re going to visit one of the planes this afternoon, and forcing the DM to improvise a whole planar travel arc. So they put in a component that means, basically, you can’t go to another plane without DM permission, since they have to place the fork in the world. Often, finding the fork can be a whole side quest of its own.
Ah, I see. Not likely to get to cast Plane Shift on an unwilling creature as an attack then. I asked my DM about how to go about getting the fork and he said I'd have to figure it out 'in-game'. My party is not going to deviate from their main objectives, or go on a quest for that matter, just to help me get a spell component. Thought the spell seemed too good to be true. Thanks for the input guys!
The "attack" of Plane Shift is taking the creature out of the fight in an instant. It's not like Banishment where you need to hold concentration for the rest of combat to make it stick, it's save or suck.

This is firmly in "ask your DM" territory.
