I'm looking at spell, and saw that the new version of "hold monster", has had the text removed, that say's it doesn't work on undead. But when it comes it "hold person" or "hold monster", which one of them, would work on undead (if any of them)
Hold Person you have to target a humanoid, which an undead is not.
Hold Monster you target a creature, which an undead is.
So, hold monster works on an undead, but hold person does not. That's just in general though, there are almost always exceptions. So make sure to read the description of the specific undead you wish to target.
Put simply, arcane spells (those available to wizards, sorcerers, bards, etc) are typically designed to be less effective against undead (such as often being unable to target them and rarely doing radiant damage) because being effective against undead is where clerics and paladins are meant to shinehttps://omegle****/https://xender.vip/ .
Hold monster not affecting undead makes the cleric feel more useful when she uses turn undead. The Wizard not being able to deal radiant damage makes the paladin feel awesome about that divine smite with an extra 1d8.
