How do yall feel about new Genasi subspecies? Not just representing elements, which is what makes up the material plane, but representing the essence for the Shadowfell, Feywild, and outer planes? And what about the element of void? And Genasi mixes like ice, ash, and steam?
Check out Monach of the Realms forum game!As Djinni you'll know me, for I am your king. From void I have shaped thee, I've shaped everything. But please do not kneel, just look and behold, I rule you to heal and share stories untold. The mask that I wear is a crude one of glass, so your soul will repair if you glance at me fast. You'll pray that you know me, and I'll let your heart ring. I'm as strong as the world tree and I'll make your heart sing.
Genasi are specifically elemental-touched humanoids. Having genasi variants for non-elemental planes doesn't really make sense, a different type of planetouched for them is more logical.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
That makes sense. What do you think about Astral Genasi, representing the element of Void, or Mixed Genasi, representing the sub planes in between elemental planes?

Sounds good. IIRC, there actually were stats for genasi from the para and quasi-elemental planes back in 2nd Edition (those were the "mixed" elemental planes, the only remnants that remain of them is the various types of mephits).

Sorry: are higher numbers in the poll interred to mean better or worse?
I like the idea of para-elemental Genasi. The other planes are probably better represented by other species (for example, we have several Fey and Fey Ancestry species).
Always been a fan of the Para- and Quasi-elemental Genasi from back in 2nd and 3rd, even if the latter was limited to a Dragon Magazine article.
I'll second the opinions of the other posters here, though: Genasi are and should remain themed around the Inner Planes - That's the four primary Elements (Air, Earth, Fire and Water), the Para-elemental planes (Ice, Magma, Ooze and Smoke) and the Quasi-elemental Planes (Radiance, Mineral, Lightning, Steam, Salt, Dust, Ash and Vacuum). That's sixteen options for a planetouched species and it's a little unrealistic to expect all of them to be printed - We kind of run into the 'too many elves' problem.

Para-elemental (mix of elemental planes), sure. Non-elemental planes, no. There is no Feywild Genasi for the same reason that there's no Feywild Genie.

5 is great idea, 1 is terrible idea.

Para elemental fine, quasi, maybe - sort of stretching things there. Outer planes? NO that is what you have assimar and tieflings for.
side note - a genie lord as a fey lord? If Tasha can be one why not - certainly an interesting idea to play with.
