I'm the DM and I had planned on going to 5.24, and one of the players bought the new Players Handbook and shared it with me. But we have had such a conflict in our group about whether to go to 5.24 our campaign was about to literally collapse. So, I decided we should just forget 5.24 and keep going with 5e. If I had not decided that this morning, we would not have a campaign right now.
My question: is there a way for me to no longer see the 5.24 rules? My player can't find a way to unshare a single book (he has been sharing all the books), and I don't see how I can refuse a shared book. I also can't find a way to set DNDB to just 5e, aka, Legacy content. I have mental health issues which will make it extremely challenging to wade through both sets of rules on DNDB while running the game. I've already burned out a few times from being overwhelmed, and if I have to parse two sets of rules for each question, well, I don't know if I--or our campaign--survives.
No. Everything owned by everyone in a campaign is shared to everyone in the campaign. You can turn off access to the text of the book, but not to the character builder support.
Also, the free rules are auto-owned by everybody, so removing the PHB won't actually help.
Edit: while you can't remove the new stuff, you could try keeping the digital PHB open, and looking stuff up in that instead. Spell, item, and monster search have filters that can help, and you can bookmark the search pages with the options already set.

Your best bet is for your players to buy the 5e source books, and I mean the hard copies, if they can find them, and play with those. That appears to be the only way to get what you need to save your campaign and group.
I see that both the 2014 spells (marked "Legacy") and the 2024 spells show up when selecting spells. But I can just ignore the new ones and always pick the Legacy version. All the 2014 features of our existing 5e characters seem to have stayed the same. Is there something else (other than having to ignore the new spells on the list) that makes it difficult to keep going with 2014 characters? I would prefer that they add a toggle switch, but it doesn't seem impossible to ignore the new spells.
This demonstrates one of the biggest issues with D&D Beyond. It isn't set up for the DM to not allow specific content. You have to allow all 2024 options. You have to allow either no third party material or all third party material. You can eliminate all expanded material or none.
Which is really hard when they have options that are Over powered and intentionally did so.
But what else - besides the spells - show up? I can just ignore the new spells and pick the legacy version. Is there anything else we haven't experienced yet? We just leveled-up recently, and our 2014 characters seem to be progressing properly with their 2014 features and abilities. We just see the new spells along with the old versions.

This may be DNDB heresy but...

New spells are there.
