So a sponsored vid says Artificers can't cast Cure Wounds (what does 5.5 book say "these changes are for anyone using Blood Hunter from CR and Artificer from Ebberon) their not in phb and naturally we won't hear any supplements till next year so... One of my fave classes is dead... It didn't even get ANY subclasses EVER after introduction and I heard legally no 3rd party can make subclasses cuz Ebberon's designer owns them. So it feels like making Artificer was entirely pointless cuz no one can make subclasses and dnd didn't update it...
Right, and that absence from the PHB is why you'll likely not see additional subclasses beyond whatever book the Artificer class itself is presented within, as sourcebooks like to refer back to the core rather than cross reference into other sourcebooks. Could we see something like PF's Guns and Gear covering Artificers and Gunslinging and steampunk character options? Sure, but that would be the forthcoming rules "one shot" to the class, unless WotC decided to take a very different tact and making more space for the class in its product line and adventures than it did in its past run. It thinks its most recent run was successful though and I see more adhering to that path than breaking out into a different product philosophy.

Literally the only true statement in this entire post is that artificer isn’t in the PHB.

Oh and do you know any 3rd party supplements with artificer subclasses? Or any official books?
Truth also requires a logic to it, and the whole fuzzy fact patterns of WotC lack of inclusion of it in SRD does not in fact lead to the conclusion "the artificer was entirely pointless" by any means. People play it and like it, some may want more of it and are looking forward to its, what I feel is inevitable, eventual apperance in the 2024 predicated product line. It is one of the few "outside of core" classes to be supported at all in D&D. And who knows, maybe in time the artificer will wind up in a future iteration of the SRD. I don't think its position is pointless at all. Maybe you mean a different word.

The class that is designed to be an expert crafter in a game system that has very little room for crafting is dead to you because it can't cast Cure Wounds?
Cure Wounds is on the Artificer's spell list in 5th edition. So maybe just don't switch to the 2024 system?

By dead I meant it never had subclasses EVER since it came out and it's not in phb and legally no one can make any subclasses or 'advanced rules' supplements for it
Since Artificer won't be in the new PHB we won't see changes of it. Sadly it seems Wizards won't include one of the best designed classes on the same level as the other ones. The 5e Artificer and especially the Tashas vesion of it are pretty great with not being "just some guns and steampunk" - a similar route they seem to take with the bard as I heard, with the bard not being tied so much to singing anymore.
So since I love that about the artificer, I hope MidnightPlat isn't right and the artificer gets tied to steampunk and guns again.
Please Wizards, just make it a base class. I want more than 4 subclasses.
Edit: Why wouldn't the Artificer not be able to cast "Cure Wounds" anymore anyhow?
Artificer HAS a generalized description, nothing in the tashas version says it has to be steampunk and it is abolutely playable in a non steampunk way. There is even the introduction that speciffically says as much.
It doesn't matter whether they attach the Artificer to genre tropes or not, it wasn't genre tropes that trapped or pinned it in the 2014 iteration of the rules to just what you see in Eberron and Tasha's. It was the class's position in the non core book that made it ineligible to be expanded upon in other sourcebooks, because of the logic I outlined above.* I still don't see the class as "dead". And who knows, it's always possible they may follow the Pathfinder lead of a "Player Core 2" and follow up the 2024 core with a some sort of PHB vol 2, that would provide four more subclasses for the the core books', intro the Artificer with 8 subclasses etc., putting it on the same footing henceforth. But it doesn't seem to be what we'll be getting since the roll out for 2024 seems to be almost a reiteration of the last pattern.
*That logic being, anything in a new sourcebook as far as character options needs to be supported in the PHB not the PHB and a sourcebook. That logic's been made clear before in discussing the limitations of the Artificer, and the Artificer's absence in the forthcoming PHB has been known for some time now.
So, technically, the Artificer did receive a new subclass after release in 5e - the Armourer. However, it is disappointing that it wasn't included in the PHB since that heavily suggests that it won't receive much in the way of development. It's possible that it will receive a lot of love when it's rereleased, but unlike the core classes, it almost certainly won't receive themed subclasses with the deep dive books - like eg Drakewarden Ranger in Fizban's - and that's a shame. Other examples likely to be in the same boat are Bloodhunters and the new class from the Dungeon Dudes book coming to DDB - but that was to be expected, given they're firmly third party.

The 2024 Player's Handbook is an update to content found in the 2014 Player's Handbook. Artificer wasn't part of the 2014 Player's Handbook, hence why it's not in the 2024 version. It will still be usable post-release of the 2024 Player's Handbook, either with that version or the 2014 version.

We don't even have the new PHB yet, much less any new Eberron books; its a bit early to declare the Artificer dead.
We have seen it won't be in phb though which sucks. Hopefully in this new edition they decide to add subs
It was never in the PHB before either (in this or any edition), so there's no reason to think it would be now.

Artificer isn't SRD, so third party wouldn't be able to make a subclass.
Note: I don't count Dmsguild as third party.
