How many duplicates could a bard make of themselves through various spell features and abilities and what would they be able to do?
The thought experiment is in the hopes of making a one man band that can perform for a full set.
Infinite- because a bard can eventually access wish spells.
If they wished for an infinite number of duplicates, and their DM actually allowed that to work, the bard would instantly die from the pressure of the sudden infinite mass around them....

you don't wish for infinite all at once..... you wish for the way to create them, which can create them, infinitely, as you see fit. Be very careful with how you make wishes....

But you do not have an infinite lifespan, or else you could already accomplish that goal with minor illusion

elaborate on what lifespan has to do with it? Just so we’re all on the same page.

No matter how quickly you wished for them, even if you were doing hundreds or thousands at a time, you couldn't live long enough to get to any number that approximates infinity, unless you were having one or more clones continue the process, in which case, if that works, you still end up with the Bardic Black Hole™ problem.
To actually answer the OP, I’d look at illusion spells. You could use multiple castings of programmed illusion to allow you to maybe not do a whole set, but at least a 5-minute loop. Major image (upcast for no concentration) I don’t think can make sounds, but could give you some backup dancers. There’s also simulacrum, which you can access through wish, although that will only give you 1 band member.

You seemed to have come up with a pretty one track idea of how to use wish to do this. And there’s no point in discussing this further with you. I encourage you to reread wish as many times as it takes. I can assure you, without anyone’s help you will find another way, then another different way, and another different way.
if for some reason you get stuck on the lifespan thing: you can always think of what can be done after someone wishes to have a timeless body like an arch Druid. Maybe the person was an elf, that still had 550 years left in elven lifespan. Just saying.
re read wish.
to the OP. Obviously your band doesn’t need millions of people. There’s many ways to accomplish what you want, both temporary and permanently.

550 years is still a finite length of time. Even if one wishes for immortality, 'infinite' assumes that nothing ends existence, itself, in that infinite length of time. Immortality would not prevent you from being slain.
To the OP, Illusions are definitely a good route, but I would go one step further than merely casting and see if you can work with the DM to arrange that your bard (possibly with the help of other casters, definitely with some parts gathering) comes up with a magic item that provides you a backup band when you play.
Getting back to the -non wish- discussion: Unseen Servant does not need Concentration and lasts for 1h. Playing an instrument probably does not qualify as a "simple task", but a leniant DM might allow it. At least "hit this drum repeatedly" should work, so you got a beat. And if you want them to be visible you can always give them some clothes and a mask.

It can do mending, which is arguably as complex as playing a backup instrument.

Edit:
So far Simulacrum, Programmed Illusion and Major Image have been mentioned as ways to get more band-mates as well as Unseen Servant.
Plus 3 castings of Prestidigitation depending on how demure (quiet) the audience is. As well as Tiny Servant.
Mirror Image allows for some "synchronised" choreography.

Major Image does in fact do sounds- and smells, as well.
