My wife and I are relatively new to playing, our main private party is just reaching the end of the Lost Mines of Phandelvar (5/6 of the players are brand new to D&D). Our DM is looking at stories and such for where will adventure to next, and we are working on building our own new characters. My wife and I are both interested in playing the game ourselves on off weeks in order to better learn the game, and try out different characters. The flexibility of the Adventurers league content (short sessions) seems good for us to try stuff out, and practice. Which leads to my question. I don't want to interfere with whatever our DM chooses as our main story for our regular group (Curse of Strahd, Storm King's, etc), so if my wife and I chose to do the Curse of Strahd Adventurers league short stories, would those spoil things for the main story, or is the adventurers league stuff more supplemental to those main stories? If it would interfere, does anyone have any other suggestions of things we should look at?
I can't answer whether the AL adventures spoil the main ones, but I can recommend the work of MT Black on DMs Guild. Excellent adventure writer, and everything I've played of his has been a good time.
