Can anyone explain how to use the Mizzium Apparatus in D&D Beyond? The apparatus allows a player to cast spells that are not prepared as long as they are on the character's class list and the character has the appropriate spell slot. What's not clear to me is how to select the desired spell (since it may not be prepared) and record that a spell slot has been spent. Normally the spending of a spell slot is automatically documented in D&D Beyond when one casts a spell (i.e., clicks on the spell name).
Thank, this helps. I’m new to using the D&D Beyond character sheet in game. Love the amount of automation relative to Roll20, though latter is convenient for macros.

You can also click the tracking box directly to mark it off. (Or click a different spell of the same level.)
All the cast button does is check off a spell slot of the right level
