Is there a way to not have Homebrew items add these red boxes before each entry?

None of my homebrew has that, so I'd guess that's got to do with the extension you're using.

That looks like the styling of beyond20. Turn it off and it should go away.

It is Beyond20, but why is Beyond20 turning certain words or phrases into buttons? Like, what formatting is triggering that?
