So with the ebon tides introducing the quickstep as a playable race/species (the monster version being a quickling) the tabaxi monk has been dethroned.
With their feline agility a tabaxi can double it's speed for 1 turn before needing to rest (move 0 feet for one turn) before it can do that again
Since, for this comparison, the monk class won't be considered initially as both races/species will be able to take the monk class.
A tabaxi in one round a tabaxi can move 120 feet (feline agility and dash actions)
The quickstep has a native 50 feet of movement, so in one turn it can move 100 feet (dash action)
On turn 2 the quickstep passes the tabaxi
Quickstep moves another 100 feet (dash action totaling 200 feet)
The tabaxi either has to rest (move 0 feet) or take the dash action without feline agility (move 60 feet totaling 180 feet)
So by turn two the tabaxi is 20 feet behind the quickstep and that only increases for each turn.
Quick step at 300 on turn 3 and the tabaxi at 240
Put monk on top of that for this let's take the level 20 monks +30 feet per turn
Tabaxi
240 (feline agility and dash)
360 turn 2 (dash)
480 turn 3 (dash)
600 turn 4 (dash)
Quickstep
160 (dash)
320 turn 2 (dash)
480 turn 3 (dash)
640 turn 4 (dash)
So as you see at turn 3 for level 20 monk tabaxi and quickstep they are tied but the quickstep then starts pulling ahead by turn 4.
The best comparison would probably be top speed versus acceleration with the tabaxi having better acceleration but the quickstep have a better top speed.
