Hello! New DM here. I'm planning to use Maps & Encounter builder for my first campaign, but I'm a bit confused on the content that will be available in the 2024 DMG & 2024 Monster Guide. As it is right now, I'm having to buy a bunch of books for monsters that I want to use. Will I get access to all of that when DMG and Monster Manual come out, or will I still need to unlock those books? https://xender.vip/
If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
Personally, I would buy Monster of the Multiverse and skip everything else until the new Monster's Manual comes out. Between MotM, the PHB, and free adventures that have been released you should be good till the MM in 2025
You will still need to “unlock” the new books — they are a purchase.
I agree with Lia, above: if you need critters, grab MotM, and use that until February.

Third on the opinion grab Monsters of the Multiverse as the first best option. It's got a great selection of monsters and a lot of playable species options for your more experimental players. The free 2014 rules have a decent assortment of enemies to use, and in all likelihood the free 2024 rules will have some added once the new Monster Manual releases in a few months, but for now if you're looking to spend MotM is the best choice
You will have to purchase those books on DnDBeyond in order to use the content from them in Maps & Encounters.
This is why I've decided to stick with Roll20 for now as my VTT. While you still have to buy books on that site to use them, I feel it's much easier to manually add monsters. https://omegle****/

You only get access to the books you buy, barring any limited free access they typically offer.

Which books are you looking to buy?

I'd also recommend Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft for monsters. I find that bestiary to be one of the better-designed of 2014 5e.
