One of my favorite spell upgrades is the new True Strike, which has gone from unplayable garbage to enabling an entire set of new builds on its own. These include the Thief Sniper, Shillelagh Pact, neo-Valor and neo-EK.
I'm happy they made the DMg an actual guide -- it just bumped out "trainees" a couple notches by itself.

I feel that way about Bard's vicious mockery. It was rarely worth wasting an action on (even though the idea of killing someone by hurting their feelings is awesome) but the new version with increased damage makes it much more worthwhile.
