Some adventures refer to magic item tables in the DMG, eg. "Roll on Magic Item Table G in chapter 7 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide...". These refer to 2014 DMG. What is the best or recommended way to handle these cases if you want to use the 2024 DMG or you don't own the 2014 DMG?
Many of the items and tables are in the free basic rules - both 2014 & 2024. Download them and use them.
That is one option. I just wonder what to do if you want to use 2024 rules. Is there a good way to select one of the 2024 random item tables instead?
The items have all been updated, so you could get the item name off the old table and give your players the 24 DMG version.
But there's no automatic way to do it. (Fundamentally, the digital book has to use either the 14 or the 24 rules; there's no way for it to use both.)
You could also look at the nature of the old table and pick a table with the same vibe from the new book.
Probably I have to do something like that. It would have been nice to get some kind of official "conversion" table which does not require checking the 2014 tables, but it seems there is nothing like that in the 2024 DMG.
