So you're walking down the road and something happens to trigger your Magical Awakening as a Sorcerer. You still don't realize it has happened. What spell do you accidentally cast the very first time that sets you on your journey? I mean prestidigitation is a great practice spell to understand the magical nuances in the world, but what cantrip or first level spell erupts out of the character?
Which ever one the player wants, I don’t know about others but in my sorceror back stories I generally describe this first casting experience - and its aftermath as it’s seldom a controlled outburst. For me, it’s almost always some sort of fire or energy burst spell as they and/or their loved ones are in mortal danger and they basically erupt spewing spells and cantrips at everything they are scared of or angry at until they or their foes go down.
Probably something that makes for a hilarious story. "Yeah, I was trying to reach the highest shelf of my pantry and then I jumped up 32 feet and broke my leg and my roof."

Pokemon Master, Hero of Hyrule, Jedi Knight, Minecrafter, Celestial Being Beyond Comprehension, Bounty Hunter, Salmon Runner, Nailmaster, Yarn Yoshi Enjoyer, Animal Lover, Math Rock Roller, Nerd King in all Aspects.
(And, of course, Dragon Tamer. It is in the name, after all)
How about Message. I'm driving a car with the windows down at 60 mph, talking to the passenger in a voice way too low given the wind. We have an entire conversation about tacos, roller coasters, and the best clay for handbuilding before my passenger realizes there is no way they should be able to hear me. They start shouting about it, I start shouting about it, we roll up the windows and experiment with volumes before, what do you know, a whisper can pierce their brain! Boom, magic.
Another good accidental first spell is Shield. It could be triggered by any number of things coming at the character causing them to throw up their hands reflexively. You could easily lean into the fun and light-hearted like seeing a bird pooping over them to something much more grim in tone depending on the vibe you're going for.

Easy. Mold Earth.
I could dig the hole for a house's foundation in half an hour - with NO equipment needed!
I could charge $10,000 per excavation, do five a day, four days a week. That's $200,000 a week, with zero overhead costs.
Take a month off in the summer, two months off in the winter, and still make $8 million a year. Do that for five or six years and then retire.
Easy peasy.
Anzio Faro. Protector Aasimar light cleric. Lvl 18.
Viktor Gavriil. White dragonborn grave cleric. Lvl 20.
Ikram Sahir ibn-Malik al-Sayyid Ra'ad. Brass dragonborn draconic sorcerer Lvl 9. Fire elemental devil.
Wrangler of cats.
And you found this power by desperately needing to evacuate your bowels on the side of the road and made a hole?
Yep. You got the assignment, though choosing Jump wouldn't initially be my go to, but I appreciate the comedy involved!
I don't think Replies are working like they used to...

Thank you for the question, this was enjoyable!

I would guess Mage Hand. That itch you can't reach on your back or that box of Mac and Cheese way in the back that you juuuuuust can't reach!
I love this. Very good.
