The son of the great one that begat this game has passed. Ernie was one of the original game testers of D&D, among the many things he accomplished. It is a sad day. Another of the old guard is gone.

May he be remembered for his contributions to the game - all of his contributions. Whitewashing and ignoring the darker aspects of this game’s history and the folks who made it serves no one. It is possible to both respect someone’s positives, feel sympathy for their family, and learn from their many mistakes, flaws, and harms.

It's truly becoming an end of an Era.
