I'm looking for some DM input on a potential idea I have for heightened focus for my 10th level monk. We have a battle coming up essentially where we will fight the “final boss” before moving on to a different campaign. We’ve already been given the foresight that we’re battling a necromancer with an undead army of ~3000. I had a thought to use my my heightened focus - step of the wind along with boots of speed and have my cleric ally cast spirit guardians. My idea would be to grab the cleric’s hand and weave my way through the horde to hopefully mass eliminate as many undead as possible. Obviously this is up to our DM’s discretion, but he’s generally pretty open to out of the box thinking cause it promotes the creative thinking.
Any thoughts on if I’m missing something obvious? Heightened focus should give me the disengage to prevent attacks of opportunity on both myself and the cleric, and the spirit guardians spell should deal massive radiant damage as we weave through the horde
I don't see how you can drag the Cleric and his speed or yours not be affected with the focus or the boots. Are you going to give the Cleric your boots, do they have an attunement slot for them, how do you see this working?
The focus would simply be so we don’t get attacks of opportunity as we run through the horde. Boots would be to maximize the amount of distance I could cover.
The way I envisioned would be to run diagonally as far into the horde as possible, then run back in a different direction out of danger. I understand there’s going to be a level to where speed is affected, but heightened focus is generally unclear as to how far you can move with the additional character other than they don’t draw attacks of opportunity when they’re with you
