The new Changling can change the characteristics, and in the new wording it does not limit to humanoid...
(As an action, you can transform your appearance - including your height, weight, facial features, the sound of your voice, coloration, hair length, sex, and any other distinguishing characteristics - or revert to your natural form. You can’t duplicate the appearance of a creature you’ve never seen, and you revert to your natural form if you die. You have advantage on any Deception check you make to avoid detection)
So if I wild shape into an ape than Changling shape in to I be it naked man u would have the strength of gorilla.
If you guys have any other ideas of how to combo this concept with Druid wild shape let me know
As a GM, I'd allow it, however, it is important to note you can't speak while in wild shape, so you'd be a naked person with the strength and voice of a gorilla. I think it would make some interesting role play opportunities.
That being said, this feels like an oversight. IE, it says you can transform your appearance "including height and weight...." and it doesn't put an upper or lower limit... so someone who is a "RAW-Lawyer" could argue that a Changling is essentially Antman.
Moon Druid transforming into an Elemental of some sort and then transform back into a Human. Or, for added subterfuge, transform into an Elemental of a different type to confuse the enemy and assume you have a different set of immunities.
You just made me realize I can multiclass as a druid and barbarian and wild shape into a bear and then go into a rage.
Really there are a lot of things that work with Wild Shape. Or a Paladin Druid Divine Smiting in Wild Shape form. That actually brings up an interesting build.
An Oath of the Ancients Moon Druid Paladin, who is a champion of nature.

The upper/lower limit is size and basic shape. The shape example given is that you can't go from bipedal to quadruped, and you can't change your size.
So if you wild shape into an ape, you could changeling into a naked man who probably has plenty of changes of clothes. You could even modify your voice to perhaps sell it, but you'd still be making gorilla sounds.
If you wild shape into something larger or smaller and more exotic of shape, you'd be restricted to that size and shape.

Ah, that makes sense. I haven't bought WgtE, so I was just going from the snippet you posted, which speaks nothing of those restrictions.
Well, I'm not the who one who posted it, but the races in WGtE, in their current state, are free as Unearthed Arcana right now.
If you wanted them without getting WGtE. The value of purchasing WGtE now is that you're buying later official material at discount while they're still in playtest. The playtest material is a live document that will be edited and added upon until it gets the seal of approval.
