Page 157 of the players handbook (PHB), covers wagons a bit, as far as actually using them to store stuff, it's as simple as asking your DM if you can store some items in the wagon instead of on your person, as long as you keep track of what you have in storage and what you have with you, it shouldn't be a problem.
Your DM shouldn't say no as it is a fairly simple request, I see no problem with doing that. However leaving your items unattended may cause them to be stolen, so be careful :)
I do not believe there is a way to track this on Dnd Beyond. I've been putting non-carried items under "other posessions" so it doesn't add to my carried weight

Yeah, the DnD Beyond doesn't have any features to track gear not in your current inventory, either that or the notes section is a good workaround :)

Yeah, this here was my problem. I was certain I was missing a clicked box in some settings or something, but I guess not. Thanks guys.
I believe containers is on the development list, however I’m not sure where it falls at this point.
If you want to be able to get info on the items, something you can’t do with Other Possessions, then you can create a “Wagon” character, invite them to the campaign and put your items in there. That’s what we do for the group Bag of Holding. One of the players is in charge of keeping track of everything so that’s it’s one less thing I need to worry about.
Newbie question: How do I add my stuff into a wagon & horse so it’s not carried by my character?

Sure there is. Open your character sheet, go to equipment then "other Possessions" put it all there.
