I have tried searching for this answer but I don't see a solution for it. How do you force only 2014 rules in a campaign character generation?
Specifically, I created a campaign with shared content. I thought by turning off the 2024 rulebooks, they would be options for character generation. But it appears that characters can still use the options from 2024. Is there a setting I am missing that eliminates 2024 content? Or is there a way to force characters to only use 2014 content?
I don't think they need to be mutually exclusive. The ideal situation would have been a three way toggle - 2014-only, 2014 & 2024 and 2024 only.
I'm also annoyed that they've not carried over the ability to set out own starting ASIs and I have to go back and bodge the freely assigned ASIs. I'd really like it if DDB tried to empower my game, rather than trying to referee how I play it.
/Rant about recent experiences that frustrated me over.

Personally I wouldn't listen to the doom sayers above, using the 2014 rules is very doable if you're paying attention. First of all on character creation screen makes sure that 2014 Core Rules, Legacy and Expanded Rules are all ticked. Then on the class screen make sure you scroll to the bottom to find 2014 classes, they've basically treated the 2024 and 2014 classes as separate and a lot of people accidentally choose the first one they come across and are surprised when it's not what they expect. After that the classes will level up using the 2014 levels. Make sure when selecting a background you do the same and scroll to the bottom to select from the 2014 options. After that the only other thing is spell casters might see two version of the spells when choosing them, just make sure to use the one with Legacy next to it. I'm running a 2014 rules campaign at the moment and we've had almost no problems at all
Replies saying that the site is totally unusuable when millions of people still use it is doomsaying. What I suggested is barely even a work around, it's just selecting the 2014 rule set
And is it not equally disingenuous to be claiming things like that just because it’s not designed in the way you’d like? Having to scroll a little further down a list is hardly breaking the site
Sadly, you can't do this since the rollout of the 2024 rules. Many of us have asked for this to be rectified, repeatedly, but it's falling on deaf ears. As such, many have also unsubscribed from the site/service in protest. Until then, the site remains more or less unusable for anyone wanting to play 5th edition in its original form.

I think this is a good point of view. If the players are aware and the DM is aware this is easily managed.
I don't want to use 2024 rules, I haven't purchased 2024 rules, I have no need of 2024 rules. And still they force it through as the default when I have not paid for or requested it and made everything a mess. I will not be using the system till they provide a toggle so my games work without having to constantly work around the damage they have done to the system that was made for USER CONVENIENCE. Luckily I have the books still and can still use pencils and paper to do everything manually. For me, the only real benefit now is being able to access the actual books online and read through them so I don't have a stack that could snap my table in two laid out before me.

Thank you for the response. That really sucks....

I'm in the same situation. So moving to Roll20 is the best way to go?

Post number 2 literally uses the word unusable

So that it is easier to see, I have quoted and highlighted it.

This is working great for me so far!
You can now actively toggle OFF the Core Rules in the Character Creation to hide all the things you shouldn't have access to in 2014.
