Is there any guidance in the 2024 (5.5) rules around downtime activities?
Specifically training to get new proficiencies in a tool, skill or language. I know that the old XGTE had rules for that, but given the flavour of the new rules where there is more agency, I didn't know if the ten weeks and int modifier was still the accurate call?
They haven’t printed anything new. Anything not re- printed is still considered the RAW option. So the downtime rules from XGtE would still be the way to go.

The 2024 DMG has Training rules: the character must spend 30 days with the trainer to receive a special benefit. Possible training benefits include the following: proficiency in a skill, proficiency with a tool, or learn a language.

Fab thank you 🙏🏻
You're welcome :)
And sorry, because I forgot to mention that they kept the variant rule Training to Gain Levels in the 2024 DMG, which was also in the 2014 DMG.
