What is the maximum number of feats you can get? I'm trying to get a character with both the mage slayer and grappler feats but I am also interested in the total number of feats a character could have.
To maximise your number of feats using only player agency, choose to be a Variant Human Fighter (2014). You'd get one for your species ability, one for your background, then take a feat for every ASI, and you'll be able to 9 Feats level 20, including one from your background. The DM can give them to you at any time as well.
I'm not sure what a Chattahoochee is, but it sounds homebrew. Regardless, you can get feats every time you get an ASI (not including the racial one).

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
I've come up with 18 total feats for a level 20 character:
Note: The Warlock Eldritch Invocation "Lessons of the First Ones" allows you to gain one origin feat of your choice and is repeatable, but you must choose a different origin feat than previously selected with Lessons of the First Ones. Since there are 10 origin feats, you will have to select all 10 origin feats using the 10 invocations you get at level 18 Warlock. This means 2 of the origin feats will be duplicates of ones selected from the character's background and Human's Versatile trait. Since there are only 2 origin feats with the "repeatable" trait, you will have to take them as your background & human origin feats (Skilled & Magic Initiate)

There is no explicit limit.

- 4 from ASIs
- 1 from level 19 Epic Boon
