hello, I'm new to the D&D game and I'm making a character and i had one question to ask, my OC has wings on the head and its more to show off and hover (but not really for filet) , but they do open and close, i know theirs a role in place that doesn't allow tieflings to fly because its advantage because they can fly speed instead of a walking speed but I'm asking if (i don't know) replace the horns of my tiefling and put wings, would that be possible. or if theirs a race that allows such wings to be placed on the head i would greatly appreciate knowing such race or possibly ill mite be leaning more into homebrew something close, thank you for reading my thread, sorry if this is stupid to ask just getting into D&D.
It sounds like a trait that would add flavor to the character. Especially if it’s mostly cosmetic. The only place there is a firm “no flying” rule is Adventurers League. Being able to fly can be a game breaking thing, so it’s up to you and your DM as to how it will work in your campaign (even “hovering” can get you through a lot of difficult situations that would present a real problem to the others characters). My character ZuZu is a Half-Avariel, so she can fly, but I balance this by her hiding her wings. The rest of the party wasn’t even sure what her race was until we were all third level and she stepped on a trap door but didn’t fall. The coolest thing about D&D for me is that you can make almost any kind of character and find a way to work it into the world. If you want to add cosmetic traits to your character to make it more like your vision? As a DM, I always say yes.
