I'm interested in playing a stereotypical human Paladin or Cleric in Dungeons and Dragons. Good-aligned. However, I don't have much experience reading about these character types in books. Does anyone have novel suggestions that would teach me about how best to roleplay them in paper & pencil D&D games?
If you pick up Erin M. Evans Brimstone Angels books, there are several supporting characters (with frequent point-of-view chapters) who are human clerics and paladins. Some of them are struggling with their devotion (in the first two books in particular) and others are true believers, but they are all good people. Granted, the primary focus is tiefling, warlocks, and dragonborn, but some of the Gods and their believers are very prominent in the story.
I'm surprised there aren't any books with stereotypical Paladins or Clerics as the main character... they seem like staple classes for so many fantasy worlds. Certainly moreso than a do-gooder Drow character as is featured in many of the books.

There's a lot of Forgotten Realms books set in the D&D universe, I'm aware, but don't know of any featuring a human Paladin or cleric.

I am one with the Force. The Force is with me.
